Meta is launching SAM 2, an advanced model for real-time object segmentation in images and videos, building on the success of the Meta Segment Anything Model (SAM). SAM 2 sets new performance standards and is available with an Apache 2.0 license, including its code, model weights, and the SA-V dataset containing around 51,000 videos and over 600,000 masklets. The model can segment any object, even those it hasn’t encountered before, offering diverse applications like enhanced video effects and improved annotation tools for computer vision systems.
